How completely tone-deaf and detached from objective reality are these people? Whatever the long-term financial justifications there may be for this project, the timing and optics are, by any measure, just catastrophically awful.
Maybe it’s time to erect a gleaming bronze guillotine next to this iconic figure on Wall Street. If Ariely’s findings hold any water, maybe it will have a chastening effect on these avaricious bastards.

The U.S. has a corporate aristocracy that is really no different than the one in old Europe including the same belief that they have a divine right to their wealth, status and power.
The U.S. can go in one of two directions: the French/Russian Revolution path which will be bloody, violent and risks resulting in a society that is even more dysfunctional, or they may follow the Scandinavian/Benelux path where the aristocracy realized the jig was up and handed over power peacefully.
It will be interesting to see where which path it goes down.

Yes! Please! Having visited EU frequently, I’d say most of the Northern European (welfare states – according to Harper) systems are better than the US model. Imagine medicare, drug care, daycare, nannies and homecare, etc., etc…
