LGBT NEM vs. Teabaggers

Hmmm. Not likely going to see much coverage of this protest event in the so-called “non-fringe media” are we?

So why wasn’t that insufferable little douche Griff Jenkins and his producer out there helping to rally the crowd? Where was Glenn Beck and the rest of the Fox crew covering the event? I mean Fox News is purportedly “fair and balanced” right? But no… when we check Rupe’s website what do we get? Well, we can learn about the dangers of an H1N1 shot, that some woman died in a sweat lodge, or that there’s a bleak employment picture… or better yet: “Man Who Held Woman in Casket Faces Life in Prison.” I don’t even want to know…

I give up trying to figure this shit out for the time being. It’s just altogether too crazy-making… Need to take a break from the insanity for several days and hunker down with some work projects. If you want to hit the tip jar in the meantime with some coin, that would be more than nice, very much appreciated and, sad to say, not entirely unneeded at the moment.

p.s. I’m sure there is a pile of potential jokes associated with the notion of pitting LGBTs against teabaggers, but it may be better not to visit that particular realm of comical possibilities.

Lowered Expectations

Fans of Mad TV will presumably get the joke. But of course it has the added bonus feature of the diminutive racist hatemonger Kathy Shaidle standing on a box (as predicted, I might note; although to be precise it was a plastic stool in this instance — which again, invites a whole other level of jokes) to deliver her rousing diatribe to an indifferent rabble of dozens.

London-SOS: Five Feet of Shit on a Stool

Anyway, BCL had more gleeful observances of the nascent teabagging movement in Canada.

Teabagging in London

In a troubled climate of deep economic recession, I suppose it was only a matter of time before some version of the “mad as hell” anti-government “teabag” movement inevitably found it’s way over the border.

A non-profit, free-market civic watchdog group pleasantly called the Forest City Institute is sponsoring a “London S.O.S. (Stop Over-Spending) Rally” at the beginning of next month to “let London’s city council and bureaucrats know it is time to end London’s decade of darkness.”

A key speaker at the event will be the hateful right-wing tosspot and inflammatory bigot Kathy Shaidle. No word yet on who’s supplying the box for her to stand on.

This story should be interesting to watch unfold, if for no other reason than to perhaps see if this is maybe a precursor to other such protests from frustrated ratepayers across the country who may well quite justifiably feel their civic taxes are being improperly spent by their marginally elected officials.

Concentrated Stupidity

Extreme right-wingers (aka so-called “conservatives”) are understandably quite defensively agitated whenever it’s dismissively asserted by Hippie-Liberal-Nazi-Communist Obama supporters that the raging teabaggers and other protesters in last weekend’s expression of diffuse outrage are little more than a lunatic fringe group of ignorant, mentally deranged crackpots, so perhaps it would be instructive to simply allow these folks to speak for themselves…

In the interest of fairness, here’s Reason TV’s take on the protest:

While “big government spending” is definitely a controversial issue, I think Reason TV really seriously missed the ball here by deliberately skewing their presentation heavily in favour of the libertarian aspect of the protest rather than more objectively covering the gamut of fearful, inarticulate, uninformed outrage presently being directed by “teabaggers” and their ilk at Washington.

h/t: A big thanks to Ian in the comments who pointed out this marvelously “stupid” video from New Left Media.

Speaking of “Indoctrination”

Young Teabagger

President Obama said in an interview to be aired tonight on 60 Minutes that he sees “a coarsening of our political dialogue.”

Gee, no kidding.

In case you’re curious about what the young man’s sign says, just click on the image for a close-up of it. It’s quite the masterwork of inchoate anger so typical of these raging teabagger protests.

Update: A wonderfully ironic musical “tribute” video to the Teabaggers from News1News.

Some of those signs are downright scary.

The Million Moron March

An estimated 1-2 million angry white people gathered in Washington today to protest… stuff.

Update: Missed it by that much, as Maxwell Smart used to say. ABC was falsely credited with estimating the size of the 9/12 Tea Party in Washington as 1 million to 1.5 million by Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks. Michelle Malkin then cavalierly rounded this number up to 2 million. ABC News had actually gauged the crowd at between 60-70,000. Not to suggest that these Teabaggers routinely engage in wild exaggerations or grotesque untruths…

Mark Kleiman has an especially funny take on the attendance controversy, also drawing a similar conclusion — “they’re no more careful, and therefore no more to be believed, when it comes to statements about, for example, the content of health care reform.”

Fox’s ‘Tea Party Express Tour”

More “fair and balanced” reporting from Fox News.

Reporter Griff Jenkins (who most of the time appears to be a witless transplant from The Daily Show) is on the road traveling through the deep south talking to irate American protesters who want to “take their country back!”

Hmmm. Where was Fox News when millions of “far left loons” were protesting the war in Iraq?

Update: More tea-party madness.

Apparently, many of these people are willing to “die” and “shed blood” to “take back their country” and fight “enemies within” (per the Constitution). Scary.

Teabag Takeover?

RedState Founder Erick Erickson at the RightOnline 2009 National Convention calling on teabag activists to stage a “coup” and seize control of the Republican Party from the bottom up.

Good luck with that.

Dittohead Teabagger Interviewed

Katy Abram, the self-described “stay-at-home mom” who told Sen. Arlen Specter “you have awakened the sleeping giant” at a recent town hall meeting in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, here being interviewed by Sean Hannity of Fox News yesterday and Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC this afternoon. Interesting contrast to say the least…

Unfortunately, this is what happens when you get your “news” from Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck (she’s a fan, apparently). Go figure.

Tea Party ’09 (July 4th) — Feel the Excitement!

Teabagging2

Or not. The sad fact for these disgruntled folks is that there’s only so much room on the turnip wagon to Crazy Town and Sarah Palin has taken up most of it this weekend; meanwhile leaving them aimlessly milling about the civic squares and city parks of fly-over country, their feeble protests and pointless horn-honking largely ignored even by the opportunistic boosters at Fox News.
