Alaska Governor Sarah Palin appeared in Wasilla yesterday to pardon a local turkey in anticipation of Thanksgiving. After the pardon, Palin proceeded to do an interview with a local TV station for almost three minutes while turkeys were being beheaded in the background.
According to her office, a photographer did ask her beforehand if she wanted that as a backdrop, to which she glibly replied: “No worries.”
Perfect – keeps her in the news loop. One smart cookie. Even though I can’t stand her.
You could see the turkey feet kicking when they cot off its head!!!
Nice – family time. All those kiddies watching this.
MSNBC blurred out the turkey squirming in the background as it was being decapitated. Oh, and they warned viewers to take the kids out of the room first if they didn’t want to get into a discussion with them about the grisly details of where their Thanksgiving dinner came from…
What good is a pardon if you can’t see what it’s being pardoned from.
Well, that’s one way of spinning it, I suppose.
Maybe at the White House version of the event, they could have some staffers from the kitchen dressed in smocks, whacking off the heads of non-pardoned turkeys with hatchets, just in case there’s any confusion…
True vice presidential material – if the standard is J. Danforth Quayle…. 😉
How folksy.
Seriously, this could have almost been a Saturday Night Live sketch — she’s become her own parody.
Skeptik — Just imagine all the wonderful “mavericky” photo-ops-gone-wrong if she runs in 2012!
I love how buddy keeps looking back and watching the camera.
When are the PETA folks going to surface?
Damn you Liberal elite, wholefood shopping, latte swilling, swine! That’s called a good photo-op where I’s from.
from a PR standpoint, one might give Palin the benefit of the doubt… but seriously, she might stop and give such things a bit more consideration in light of the millions that will see any interview she does
Great title!
Wonder what crime the turkey had committed that it was being “pardoned” and not “spared”. Feathering its nest?
“wholefood shopping”
No self respecting intelligent person would shop at the teabagging Whole Foods.
