“Tough Words”

That’s the understated way in which Michelle Malkin described recent comments of Fox News “strategic analyst” Lt. Col. Ralph Peters about Pvt. Bowe Bergdahl, the American soldier captured by the Taliban.

After first stating that “we must wait until all of the facts are in to make the final judgment,” Peters then went on to call Bergdahl “an apparent deserter” (based on little more than that “nobody in the military that I’ve heard is defending this guy”), accused him of “collaborating with the enemy” and stated definitively that “we know this private is a liar.” He added that “the media… should not portray this guy as a hero” and suggested that if he is indeed a deserter, “the Taliban can save us a lot of legal hassle and legal bills” (presumably implying he’d be quite happy if they simply executed him).

As Lt. Paul Rieckhoff said on the Rachel Maddow Show, maybe Peters just “needs to shut his mouth.”

Interestingly, for whatever reason, Malkin’s website seems to be down this morning (“Error establishing a database connection”), however a copy of her post can be seen here (I bet the comments were pretty interesting…)

Update: Evidently, Malkin had some server issues this morning. So, here’s the link for the post in question. As expected, many of the comments are, as David pointed out “strangely hateful and full of rampant, idiotic speculation. And lots of blame for Obama.”

They are strangely hateful and full of rampant, idiotic speculation. And lots of blame for Obama. Weird.

  2. The real story (one captured soldier) is not even worth more than a paragraph on anyone’s time.

  3. You should. It’s what tout le monde is doing these days. Just lard up a post with any philosopher’s quotes (doesn’t matter who), follow it with a bunch “pshaw’s,” “as if’s” and shriek about how that system of thought has corrupted your adversaries.

    Done and done.

  4. He’s a Bloggin’ Tory (’natch)

Which Bloggin’ Tory is he? I started reading that Hieronymus Bosch of a web site but gave up.

  5. It’s much easier to point out the Boggin’ Torees who aren’t bull-goose loony. Even then, it’s pointless.. The ones who aren’t loony are either too dumb to be allowed to vote or appallingly juvenile; people whose adult lives remind me of kids playing house or at best, an episode of Leave it to Beaver.

  6. Well, that was certainly good for a laugh, but not without a tinge of pity.

Oh dear. The poor man (Mr. Spyimplants) likely is a paranoid schizophrenic, but I really feel sorry for the dentist. Seven years of this nut standing in front of her practice would take its toll on anyone.

As we’d expect, it’s all the NDP’s fault. Those crazy dippers and their tracking devices!

  7. Well, if he is a schizophrenic, it’s no laughing matter. If he’s a Boggin’ Toree, Stephen Taylor needs to reflect on what exactly he’s facilitating.

I’ve said it before…these wingnuts should get together and launch a class action suit against all of those who’ve enabled their delusions.

  8. “many of the comments are….’strangely hateful and full of rampant, idiotic speculation'”

    the money shot:

“the baseless speculation of a lot of ignorant fools with an anti-war agenda.

  9. Why is it such an big deal that I’m a Blogging Tory?

Sure try to make fun of my website – however – that doesn’t change the fact that it’s true. If you had a real brain you would see that if I were not telling the truth I would be charged with defamation and the website would have bee taken down – long time ago.

Why have the Blogging Tories allowed me to post my plight there in the form of the “Freedom of Information” thread in Canadian politics forum?

Right now that thread has 19498 views – the most of any thread on the entire website!

If you had read the site you would see that the miscreant dentist tried and FAILED to have me charged – tried and failed to have the website removed.

Ask yourself why you cannot beleive that such a thing has occurred in this socialist nightmare called Canada…

So next time you want to use my plight for a laugh use some basic common sense first.

  10. Hey Don,

To the outside observer your site seems to resemble the type rambling, poorly formatted, conspiracy nut sites complete with fuzzy images.

One would think that if this so-called “spy implant” had been embedded in your sinus cavity that you could quite easily have it removed and thus have actual proof of said conspiracy.

Maybe after 7 years of fruitless annoyance and pestering of this poor dentist that it’s time to give up the ghost and move on with your life.

Thanks for dropping by and best of luck to you.

  11. Don — I’ve been trying to get a “real brain” for some time now, but well… you know how long it can take for our nefarious, heinously ineffective socialist healthcare system to address these kinds of problems.
