The Burning Hypocrisy: Part XXXIV

It’s been suggested by some media pundits that Dick and Liz Cheney abruptly cancelling their appearance at an upcoming speaking engagement in Toronto due to “security concerns” the other day was nothing more than a publicity stunt to rollover existing ticket holders and hype the “Steynemite!” event featuring controversial author Mark Steyn and another loopy English ex-pat, Michael Coren. Certainly not a theory beyond the realm of plausibility…

Somewhat aside from that, it’s amusing that both Steyn and Coren vehemently promote themselves as champions of free speech – as do their legion of so-called “conservative” supporters, such as SDAMatt2a, the “owner” of the above-noted video. But in reality, do these folks actually “walk the walk” when it comes to the matter of free speech? In my experience, they most certainly do not:

That’s just one glaring example, but I could produce countless more where these phony advocates for free speech don’t practice what they preach.

By the way, I’m not sure why I got “blocked” by this particular individual. I think I made a couple of comments that took issue with remarks made by others, but it was nothing terribly heinous – certainly not of the calibre that would warrant being “blocked” from his channel. Some people, it seems, just can’t tolerate dissenting opinions. Apparently, their idea of “free speech” is limited to that which aligns with their own point of view.

Irony, Thy Name is “liberty4canada”

Another HarperCon hypocrite going under the name “liberty4canada” that simply can’t help ruthlessly stamping out any expression of critical dissent or opposition…

I’m not sure what exactly “liberty” means in the twisted, Orwellian lexicon of some so-called “Conservatives”… Whatever it may be, it certainly makes me wonder what other fundamental concepts like “free speech” that are commonly associated with liberty they don’t quite fully grasp in Bizzarro Harper World.

By the way, just for the record, my comment wasn’t offensive or profane. As best I recall, it went like this: “Is that the best attack you can mount? How desperately pathetic.”

p.s. Nardwuar is an annoying twat. No wonder Ignatieff didn’t “get it” (whatever “it” may be).

CTV’s Election2011 Channel

Not having the time or opportunity of late to watch broadcast TV, I’ve been following the election coverage online as much as possible.

CTV has a marginal YouTube channel called “Election2011CTV” which delivers nothing but random, ephemeral droppings from the campaign trail, as you can see by the following clip posted today:

Having viewed a number of these completely pointless video turds that appeared in my daily subscription list, I finally got fed up with their inanity and made a sardonic comment lauding them for their excellent reportage and investigative journalism. Shortly afterwards, it came to my attention that they had deleted my comment and turned off the commenting feature altogether on this video. Go figure.

Freedom of Speech “Threatening”

At least according to Bill O’Reilly, who felt the “demented pinhead” that heckled former president George H.W. Bush recently in a Houston pizzeria should have been arrested by the Secret Service and “held accountable.” For what exactly, isn’t quite clear. “Can’t let that stuff go,” said Bill O, shaking his head in disgust.

At a stretch, I suppose some of the heckler’s comments could have been construed as possibly slanderous in nature (e.g., calling him a “murderous, Zionist, piece of shit” and blaming him for the death of millions), but otherwise there doesn’t seem to be anything remotely illegal in what the man did by publicly rebuking the former president.

Update: And speaking of post-presidential Bush indignities…

Land O’the Free – Home O’the Dumb

Here’s a somewhat puzzling confrontation between an off-duty DC cop and a bunch of kids throwing snowballs at passing Hummers on the snowy streets of Washington earlier today…

Speaking personally, at about 1:35 in that video, I would most assuredly have thrown “another fuckin’ snowball” at that gun-toting jackass… Most likely beaning him with an iceball right in the noggin at that stage of proceedings.

Good grief. Did the gun-toting “Detective Baylor” seriously think that a relatively harmless snowball might somehow damage his precious, mauve-colored, lightly armored, faux military vehicle in any way?

Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo!

Shorter Hunter: A handful of people posted some “mean” remarks when pointing out my fact-challenged partisanship, catastrophic stupidity and phenomenal ignorance, so now I’m not going to allow any of these “lefty trolls” who disagree with me to post any comments whatsoever!

Free speech, ladies and gentlemen — Bloggin’ Tory style.

Irony Bonus: This from the same person who once claimed (absent evidence of any kind) that, “The lefties attack free speech… because it doesn’t agree with their tiny little minds, no room in there for thought nor the ability to understand different viewpoints.”

More “Hunter” Fun Update: Here’s another lovely bit of comedy from the blogger who’s perpetually (and unsuccessfully) clawing her way “out of the dark” apparently.

Lefties, it’s okay for them to protest (they love Acorn and unions), but when ordinary Americans try it, they are unAmerican, Astroturfers and besides that, they are too well dressed to be real protesters. That is what the lefties do, they hire protesters, usually homeless people, so they expect the same slimy behaviour from their opponents. They can not understand that these are real Americans, who are concerned about their health care.

As a last resort, they swear and name call, like my little trolls. Dim bulbs.

There you go folks, “Lefties” aren’t “real Americans” they’re hired homeless people, union thugs or community activists (usually poor, urban blacks). Similarly, she has described “Lefties” in the past as “weak, pathetic excuses for real Canadians.” It seems that only “conservatives” are “real” citizens in Hunter’s world. Isn’t that cute?

Additionally, she’s branded liberals as: corrupt, disgusting, slimy, dim, immoral, unprincipled, socialist thugs and wimps that are “destroying our country!” Thank goodness she doesn’t engage in name calling because that would be like… you know, massively hypocritical.
