He Carried Yellow Flowers

If you thought the “smoker” ad launched by the Herman Cain campaign was atrocious, well, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet:

If, after having watched that horrible monstrosity, you can still regard the Herminator as anything but a joke candidate effectively punking the Republican Party, I’d be amazed.

    Outside the box.
I can see why you hate him.
You have been trashing him for months, and his numbers keep going up.
I have no idea if he is another flash in the pan, but I laugh at the venom directed toward him from the left.

  2. Well, as usual, you’re dead wrong. I don’t “hate” Herman Cain. In fact, quite some time ago here I wondered why the MSM didn’t take him more seriously as a viable candidate. That was when he was polling in the low single digits and nobody knew anything whatsoever about the guy other than his seemingly credible C.V.

Now that we’ve had the opportunity to discover what the guy is all about, like many others, I’m completely mortified that someone so catastrophically dumb and ill-informed is currently leading the pack of jackasses running to be the GOP nominee for president. In that opinion, I seem to be on side with Karl Rove, of all people.

As for the ad, I suppose calling it “outside the box” is one way of describing it — another, arguably more accurate description, might be “a ridiculous piece of shit.”

“If, after having watched that horrible monstrosity, you can still regard the Herminator as anything but a joke candidate effectively punking the Republican Party, I’d be amazed.” Here’s to hoping you’re right. But it really doesn’t matter what I think about it — that’s irrelevant — but it’s likely a highly effective ad for what they’re going after.

    Hahahahahaha

  4. I used to be amazed at horrendous TV adverts for car dealers and furniture stores that offended one’s intelligence on every conceivable level and yet… they were successful. So go figure. As H.L. Menken famously said many years ago, “No one in this world has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people.”

Targeted, the smoking ad is a winner. The Yellow Flowers vignette clearly jumped the shark.

“someone so catastrophically dumb and ill-informed ”

Considering he is more successful than you, what does that make you?

  8. TJ: Where did you get that from… the Pee Wee Herman School of Debating? “I know you are, but what am I?”

Millions of people are vastly more successful that I am — but that doesn’t mean they’re necessarily smart or well informed. By your “logic” Paris Hilton or any other addle-brained celebrity must be a genius!

  9. Thomas Jefferson

“By your “logic” Paris Hilton or any other addle-brained celebrity must be a genius!”

Actually no. Paris is admired by liberals all around the world. She inherited her family name. She is living a “liberal” lifestyle.

Herman Cain thinks for himself, unlike the Marxist left.

Liberals or progressives are people who,for the most part, could never make it in the private sector. So they work for “government” and rape the treasury.

Layton, Harper. Rae, almost every single government agent in Canada couldn’t wash Cain’s feet.

Without my taxes, these communists in the Canadian government would starve to death.

    ???????? “Rape the treasury” ????????

So what does that make the duly elected who write, debate, re-write, debate and pass bills on our behalf, for spending, taxation and what-not?

And — what does that make the represented — presumably the beneficiaries of said actions conducted on their behalf by their agents?

  11. Thomas Jefferson

“So what does that make the duly elected who write, debate, re-write, debate and pass bills on our behalf, for spending, taxation and what-not?”

It makes you seem look like a Marxist.

The government has no business robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Why are male dancers in Montreal getting my taxes again?

And the CBC? Why are they getting my taxes?

How about abortion? Why am I paying to end someones life?

How about government ideological education? Why is McGuinty teaching children to think exactly like him?

In reality, what we have here in Canada is no different than in North Korea.

“To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical”

    Thomas Jefferson

You did not answer my questions, but that’s OK. That’s your right, my friend. But surely you can see that whatever you may not like about how our collective tax dollars are used, which I am guessing you consider to be legalized theft on the part of the state, you over-reach with statements like, “raping the treasury” — IMHO.

As for me, perhaps naively, I stand up for democracy which I guess includes spending money on things we don’t agree on as individuals, something I have observed elsewhere that libertarians seem to take to be the same thing as being Marxist.

I suppose if one were to shift desperately the scions of neo-liberalism to their critics, it is best to imagine that Paris Hilton’s symbolism of conspicuous consumption is somehow followed by those wary of such Randian trite. Thankfully, one is not so much burdened with actually providing any basis for such nonsense.

  14. JKG: I’m amazed you bothered to respond to that insane troll.

What he says makes no sense whatsoever and is fraught with grotesque lies and catastrophic ignorance.

To wit… In reality, what we have here in Canada is no different than in North Korea.

How does one even begin to respond to such monstrous stupidity? If he truly believes that, then he is a completely delusional maniac whose daily life must be fraught with all sorts of imaginary horrors.

    Quite sad, really.

Yeah, Red, sometimes I just cannot help myself. It is similar when I cannot look away at Youtube comments by the same gun wielding, jingoist, “libertarian” types who perform so many mental gymnastics.
