    Well sometimes Rex can be a pompous windbag when there’s little out there in the news for him to comment on. But here, I totally agree with you, this is one of Murphy’s best commentaries. In these 3 minutes Rex probably gave the best explanation thus far for why, regardless of their political stripes, all Canadians feels such a profound loss with the news that Jack lost his battle with cancer.

  4. It’s telling that many people in Quebec were voting for Jack, not the NDP. Literally… There were even some (at least according to anecdotal reporting) who were apparently confused that HIS name wasn’t on the ballot.

    Yes, Rex has captured the heart of Jack Layton, and it was a big one. A cruel irony for Jack and for Canada as well. We were so close to having a true leader, and now he is gone. Can’t quite get used to that yet.
