Saif al-Islam

Muammar Gaddafi’s son spends 22 minutes imploring Al Jazeera’s Anita McNaught and the network’s viewers not to believe their lying eyes when it comes to the popular revolution taking place in Libya…

Ironically, Gaddafi’s PhD thesis at the London School of Economics was entitled The role of civil society in the democratisation of global governance institutions: from ‘soft power’ to collective decision-making? Go figure.

  1. Currently a group of students dedicated to finding out if his thesis was plagiarised. Lot of professors over here are in very awkward positions… president of the school resigned yesterday.

Oddly enough though, the same students now staging sit-ins and tweeting up a storm about their immoral professors were happy enough to go to a Gadhafi telecast in the first term for a chuckle over his insanity.

  2. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if his thesis is determined to have been largely plagiarized and that his degree was awarded by virtue of the generous donation made to the LSE by his “charity” organization rather than due to any intellectual merit.

  3. Ha! They’ve started an “inquiry”!

Just how messed up do your connections have to be before an inquiry is required to get to the bottom of it? A fellow student was bringing me up to speed on Howard Davies’ history, really not the cleanest of characters… not that he’s worse off for it.

  4. I wonder if the LSE will have to pay back the £300,000 installment on Gaddafi’s “donation”.

Mind you, this isn’t much different from the system in America (and increasingly here too) where influential people gift facilities and endowment funds to universities and then “magically” their idiot spawn are granted degrees and honorariums.

…and then “magically” their idiot spawn are granted degrees and honorariums.

And now everyone knows how ‘W’ got his degrees from Yale and Harvard.
