Disunity at The Moonie Times

Former opinion page editor Richard Miniter talks with Howard Kurtz on CNN’s Reliable Sources about the current legal turmoil surrounding the recent spate of executive firings at the troubled Washington Times

I’ve always found it more than a little odd that the leading “conservative” paper of record in the United States has lost money for the past 27 years and survives only by virtue of the subsidies it receives from the Unification Church of “Reverend” Sun Myung Moon, a megalomaniacal Korean lunatic who, amongst other things, claims to be the Second Coming of Christ.

  1. I always point this out when the right-wingers gloat about the state of the New York Times.

What I don’t get is that the Washington Times as you say is funded by a wingnut cult and has a tiny circulation but the media treats it like a premiere news source.

  2. Funny the way that works, isn’t it? WT, NP consistently lose money for decades solely propped up by subsidies from lunatics with deep-pockets and then lecture everyone on the virtues of the free market… Meanwhile, the NYT, CST, LAT, struggle to keep afloat and are demonized as pathetic losers.
