“We would do well to humble ourselves before Almighty God!”
Amazing what goes on in the U.S. Congress some days…
Good grief, what a nutjob.
In fact, Obama’s staff didn’t request that Georgetown “cover up an image of Christ on the cross before Obama would give his speech” as Bachmann claimed. In fact, that’s a deceitful lie. Here’s what a spokesman for the university said: “The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they’ve done for other policy speeches… Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn’t high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS [the Jesuit monogram for Christ] and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context.”
Funny, but I seem to recall from Sunday school that the Lord couldn’t abide “a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” So, perhaps in the run-up to the “National Day of Prayer” (Thursday, May 7th) the pious representative from Minnesota should remember that God isn’t too keen on individuals with “an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations” or she may want to consider that Jesus warned “…all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Things to keep in mind maybe. You know… if you believe in that sort of thing.
p.s. Of course, if there’s any moron on planet Earth that could possibly be more hopeless than Bachmann, it’s this guy — a man who never encountered an insane right-wing talking point from Matt Drudge he didn’t eagerly chow down on.
