Born in England in 1959 and raised in Victoria, B.C., my educational background was in the visual arts (University Academy of Fine Arts), a qualification that somewhat improbably translated into a 20 year career in the field of customs brokerage and international trade consulting. Over the years, I’ve lived in various cities across Canada including Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Windsor and Toronto. Since 2002, I’ve been self-employed, primarily as a web designer, but also providing various specialized marketing services on an ongoing basis to a number of different companies across the country and in the United States, including advertising, media content development, and freelance writing.

Well that’s mature.
Nice to know conservatives are so well represented.

What can I say? I didn’t think it was worth responding to. Speaks more to the writer than to me, I think.

True…

Bearing in mind how well travelled you are, please don’t think that North American Christianity represents truth. They should stop believing they are God’s 2nd chosen nation. The biggest voice isn’t always the best voice. I am not ‘conservative’, and try not to polarise…… Anger (athiest or Christian is not nice) inspired Dawkins. Maybe he came from a family or situation that tried to indoctrinate….. it doesn’t mean that all do.
Doesn’t Dawkins do the same by peddling his own distorted views. Somethings are beyond reason (our limited understanding), so don’t play God instead.

Aavey, I agree. As an American, I think we should give up this nonsense about being God’s 2nd chosen nation immediately.
Why should we take a backseat to anyone?

Marta — I’ll take that under advisement with the consideration due coming from the same person who wrote this deathless prose:
Clearly a sage. And “hobby artist”…

Hi RedTory,
Just discovered you and I’m glad that there are still others who are prepared to wear the “Red Tory” label. I plan to keep an eye on your site.
Incidentally, I’m not sure how God entered this particular conversation, but people who would like to think more deeply about these questions might want to check out a book called “Frequently-Asked Questions in Christian Theology” (published by Continuum/Mowbray and available on http://www.amazon.ca) which is accessible to the ordinary reader while being a fair bit more thoughtful than the average catechism class. In the interests of full disclosure, I’d best admit that I wrote it.
November 28, 2008 at 3:55 pm
LOL. I’ll do that when I get a chance.

How quickly we forget-The Bloc actually formed the Official Opposition in ‘93-’97. Canada moved from what the NY Times had labelled a 3rd World Country to achieving a Surplus and beginning to pay down debt. Their planned involvement in terms of support of the Coalition for 18 months on Confidence Motions only is hardly Armageddon and they are NOT part of the Government. I expect the Coalition would just as soon not have the blessing of a Jacques Parizeau but we all know politics makes for strange bedfellows.

Quite true, although this might not be the best thread to express that thought.

Yo, Mr. Red! Hi. Can you do me a favour and change my link on your blog roll to: http://novacadia.wordpress.com/. Mercy.
January 7, 2009 at 2:17 am
What a very interesting and eclectic medley of commentary.
January 7, 2009 at 3:27 am
Rather odd, isn’t it? I should have shut off comments on this page, but didn’t know how to do so when I first set this up on WordPress and so decided to leave them stand.
January 7, 2009 at 4:07 am
Hi, again. That’s the old blog you linked to. Please see again above, i.e. WordPress. (Correct me if I’m wrong, but I couldn’t find an email address in this page with which to make this request.)
January 7, 2009 at 4:18 am
SR — Done!
Thanks for noting the lack of an e-mail link… I’ll work on a widget for that in due course.
January 10, 2009 at 8:26 pm
Hey Red, would you consider adding me to your blogroll? I would gladly return the favor

Red tory,
I’m working for Nokia’s IdeasProject.com and we released today a press release about noted Duke University Behavior Economist, Dan Airely, who is featured on IdeasProject.com about his “big idea” concerning a new type of economy.
Please review the press release here:
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2009/02/prweb1991494.htm
We’re hoping you might check out the embedded short interview of Dan Ariely (featured in the press release) and explore the topic of the new type of economy on the http://www.ideasproject.com website. We’d like your feedback and certainly appreciate any blogging you do on the subject of the new type of economy, as proposed by Dan, and referencing IdeasProject.com.
Any questions, please let me know.
Many thanks!

OK I have given up. You posted a great post about a month ago that showed a Qassam rocket on a highway with IDF bomb squad looking on, and then immediately a picture of a missile strike in a market in gaza where (estimating from the height of the people in it) a 25 foot crater had been left, with little tiny people standing around in shock and confusion. I thought it was the greatest visual display of proportionality but now I can’t find it!!

(PS if you can’t see the email I have to leave to post a response, drop a link or note anywhere on my blog and I’ll see it – it’s not that busy ;o)

Hello Red Tory,
I guess I’m blind, but I couldn’t find your contact info. I hope you don’t mind me sending my link exchange request via comment.
My name is Colin. I’ve recently started a blog called Vancouver Moose – http://vancouvermoose.wordpress.com/
I’ve added you to my blogroll and I hope that you’ll consider adding me to yours.
At Vancouver Moose, I hope to help keep British Columbians informed about Canadian news and politics. I’m paying particular attention to environmental and LGBT issues. There’s also a fair amount of “Internet stuff” like video’s and my addition to LOLs. I’m fooling around with making my own webcomic and also posting personal photos from my beloved city.
Have a groovy day,
V.A. Moose

Yeah, I should put contact info on here someplace. I keep meaning to and then never get around to it.
Anyway, link added to blogroll. Stay in touch and let me know if you run across anything interesting/juicy about the upcoming BC election.

Just wondering, but that picture makes you look homosexual.
I’m not being rude, but I thought I would ask seeing how Canadians are so ‘open’ about gayness.
March 21, 2009 at 2:38 pm
RT,
Wow, I’m surprised at the probing, sleazy set of smears.
I guess when you open yourself up, it invites ugly.
Makes me consider respecting politicians and CEOs a bit more.
March 21, 2009 at 2:44 pm
It was an oversight on my part to allow comments on this page, but when I set up this blog I wasn’t familiar with WordPress. Oh well.
I wonder what “Steve” thinks it is that makes people “look homosexual”… What an asinine comment.
March 21, 2009 at 2:53 pm
looking homosexual…?
tweed jacket, I think I read somewhere it is part of the gay uniform.
or maybe the fact it looked like you didn’t shave that day, clearly an indication of sexual preference.
or maybe that you aren’t smiling. Maybe it’s the gay “look”.

Filmmakers from Canada’s No-Job Capitol Re-brand Panhandling
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Private banks and corporations need public bailouts to survive. Pension funds are the new piggy bank. Outsourcing is a growth industry.
What’ll be the next big re-brand?
A festival comedy from Windsor, Ontario—Canada’s current no-job capitol—is available for sharing on youtube, myspace, and blip.tv. Retraining for the Global Economy screened at the Planet Ant Film & Video Festival, The Indie Gathering, and Harvesting the FAM in summer, 2008.
The training film satire depicts Windsor’s current economic woes, and “trains” the recently unemployed how to succeed in the fastest-growing employment sector: Personal Fundraising, a re-branding of the ancient profession of panhandling.
The film is now available for free sharing on the following sites—
On youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/flickersdotca

For all you Christophobes out there; Some of you make it back from the dark side, but precious few.
http://pcwatch.blogspot.com/
Juergen Habermas, a veteran leftist German philosopher stunned his admirers not long ago by proclaiming, “Christianity, and nothing else, is the ultimate foundation of liberty, conscience, human rights, and democracy, the benchmarks of Western civilization. To this day, we have no other options [than Christianity]. We continue to nourish ourselves from this source. Everything else is postmodern chatter.”
This link will give many of you a chubby. It shows the murder victims of the Pedophile mullahs in Iran.
The the fetus with a bullet through its back will really excite you. Nothing like a dead fetus, to bring a smile to a Leftard.
The man with the gaping gash in his upper left chest has patches on his dead eyes.
I would think smiley feces would be more appropriate, or little UN Piece Signs.
(The UN rapes children all over Africa…Google it!)
