Amy Myers v. Michele Bachmann

A 16-year-old sophomore at Cherry Hill High School East in New Jersey has challenged Michele “Crazy Eyes” Bachmann to a debate.

In a letter sent to the congresswoman in April, she wrote: “I, Amy Myers, do hereby challenge Representative Michele Bachmann to a Public Forum Debate and/or Fact Test on The Constitution of the United States, United States History and United States Civics.”

Myers says she has nothing personal against Bachmann – she just thinks her ceaseless stream of gaffes and inaccurate statements are an embarrassment to all women with political ambitions.

“It took until the 19th amendment for women to be able to vote, and now it seems like the most famous women in politics are kind of jokes,” Myers said.

If Bachamnn declines or continues to ignore the request (which she has done so far) now would be a tremendous opportunity to see this plucky student to call out Sarah Palin for the same challenge given the failed veep, half-term governor of Alaska, and Faux News pundit is presently on a mission of “educate” the benighted folk between Washington, D.C. and New England about her own twisted interpretation of the historical roots at the foundation of America.

Update: Here’s another great kid who successfully took on the kooky creationists in Louisiana and has also challenged Michele Bachmann to back up some of her outright fabrications.

  1. Perhaps the most ‘famous’ women in American politics are ‘jokes’, but the most effective ones are certainly not. Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House between 2007 and 2011 and she was one of the most effective Speakers (and progressives) in a long, long time; definitely a strong role model for American women in politics into the future. In fact, even after her party was thrown out in the 2010 Republican wave, nobody seriously dared to challenge her for leadership of the Democrats in the House.

  2. Agreed. Pelosi was one of the most enormously effective leaders in Congress by any measure. She is, however, a serious person (rather than a radical, unhinged crackpot) and therefore doesn’t get lionized by the media in the way that Palin and Bachmann do.

One could never imagine for a moment the idea of Pelosi running for president, but it’s commonplace speculation with regards to the likes of the aforementioned ditzy numbskulls.

Maybe the subtext of young Ms. Myers’s challenge could be taken as a shot aimed at the media for their obsessive interest in witless cartoon characters like Palin and Bachmann.

  3. OB: But, but… all the HATE comes from the left! That is what the righties tell me all the time. I simply cannot believe that the pure hearts and conscientious citizens that watch Fox News, listen to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, and inhabit the environs of Michelle Malkin and SDA online would issue threats of death and rape to this young woman.
