“Tea Party” Madness

Last week, CNBC commentator Rick Santelli publicly voiced the sentiments of many angry Americans (supposedly) when he called on the government to stop bailing out failing institutions and “rewarding bad behavior.”

Fired up by outraged wingnuts, a grassroots movement has been launched calling on people to throw a new “Tea Party” in protest.

It’s hard to see how this will be at all helpful in restoring confidence in the market or do anything other than exacerbate an already bad situation. Meanwhile, Santelli is now running around the right-wing talk radio circuit ludicrously claiming that the White House is threatening him and that as a result his kids are nervous about going to school.

By the way, I wonder how many people will fall for this article and take it as being genuine.

Meanwhile, Santelli is now running around the right-wing talk radio circuit ludicrously claiming that the White House is threatening him and that as a result his kids are nervous about going to school.

What a liar, eh? This is precisely why the Americans are in the bind they are; people rarely get challenged on their fabrications because they never appear in a venues where that’s like to happen.

It’s supposed to look robust and adversarial, but it’s really extreme cowardice and bravado.

Even Harper, at least up front, would take the accusation that a citizen believes he or she is being threatened by his administration extremely seriously.

Santelli is typical of Republicans/Cons. Always loud, spewing vitriol, spouting half truths but never having the proof to back up their assertions.

It’s beyond me that intelligent people buy into his BS!!

Make no mistake, Santelli is throwing around his faux outrage to cover the fact that people such as himself and networks like CNBC were all about the housing bubble. I still find it incredulous that MSNBC still has on Jim Kramer as a financial analyst after he was screaming at people to hold on to their Bear Stearns stock.

  4. We don’t get CNBC here any more. I couldn’t stand watching it and being screamed at for hours on end by frantic people that all seemed to be off their meds. Not that I’ve ever actively played the stock market, but I suspected their advice was probably more harmful than helpful. Kramer and his gong show being a prime example of that. Worse than useless. Moreover, he’d flat out lie about recommendations he’d made previously… The guy should be sued for malpractice, or drummed out of the business.

Well, let’s face it. The collapse of the economy is really just the best gift Republicans could hope for. And we were all wondering where the “silver lining” was in all of this.

They are just giddy with the prospect of painting all of this as “Obama’s fault.” Just don’t get out any mirrors . . . they certainly don’t want anyone looking backwards, and God-forbid people realize they remain just a bunch of blood-sucking vampires, just as they were when they built this stack of cards.

Tea Party in revolt of an unjust government tax?

We’ve had that in Canada for some time in response to Flaherty’s Income Trust Tax Fraud…..see:
