The first two parts of a great interview with author Eric Margolis and Paul Jay of Real News about Hamas and its relationship to the Arab world.
According to Margolis, Hamas is more of a threat to corrupt Arab regimes than to Israel — a contention that seems beyond dispute.

“This is a prison riot, were people are throwing rocks over the prison wall.”
- Eric Margolis
I was just watching this RT, found it over at Erza Levant’s site. Margolis, a Republican I believe, and as stated by the interviewer, contributing editor to the American Conservative Magazine. There appears to be a voice of sanity in the Conservative movement (re: foreign policy) down here in the United States. It’s a shame the likes of Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel are marginalized and portrayed as oddballs.

Great one-liners: “Worse than a crime, it’s a mistake.” “War is the terrorism of the rich.”

Talleyrand was a great cynic.

Wouldn’t matter to Israel if Hamas were the Peace Corps.

Margolis offers a pretty balanced perspective on the goings on in Israel and the Arab world.
Eric is always my first read on a Sunday morning. His editorials appear in the Toronto Sun.

A bigger picture: “Unusually Large U.S. Weapons Shipment to Israel: Are the US and Israel Planning a Broader Middle East War?” http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=11743
From the above article I find particularly interesting, “The large shipments of US ordinance, slated to arrive in Israel after the inauguration of Barack Obama as President of the United States and Commander in Chief are part of the broader program of US-Israeli military cooperation in relation to Iran.” I have to wonder if this may have anything to do with the “test” for Obama that has already been signaled by Joe Biden and Colin Powel.
Then again, maybe it’s the “collapse” of either Mexico or Pakistan, as signaled by the U.S. Joint Forces Command: http://www.elpasotimes.com/newupdated/ci_11444354
What cooks? Stay tuned. A “state of emergency” has been declared by President Bush for the January 20 Obama unauguration: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1115942/Bush-declares-state-emergency-Washington-cost-Obamas-swearing-ceremony-soars-110m.html.
Under a National Special Security Event (NSSE), all command, control and communications is transfered to the Secret Service; even the military. With this latter decree, guess who will be holding the actual reigns of power, via control of the Secret Service, on January 20? Why, none other than yer bud and mine, Dick Cheney, just like he was running the Secret Service on 9/11.
