If you’re looking for a quick refresher course on the history of Israel and Palestine, this account by Charles Smith, professor of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Arizona is quite fascinating.
The third part of the film (up to the first and second intifadas) is available at the Alternate Focus screening room.
Smith was a Fulbright scholar in Egypt, and served as a member of the Institute for Advanced Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He’s published scholarly articles on many topics, including Egyptian Islam, Anglo-French imperialism in the Middle East, and nationalism and identity.

Thanks, RT! It the first time I heard of him. Since I always make it a point to find out who I’m listening to, I did a quick search on him and came upon this from Amazon. I shall probably get that book as well.
I’m going to download & listen to what you provided now. Thanks again!

The third part is worth a look.
It should be required watching for Iggy and his pro-Isreal coterie of douchebags.
There are always causes and effects.

Interesting to see how domestic politics within Israel continues to play a role in its actions.
Shocking how settler can angrily yearn for lebansraum without getting the horrible irony of it.

But wait, the Leader of the Liberal Party himself has told us this is all about Qassam rockets and Israel’s right of unrestricted self-defence.
Letting Ignatieff lash the Liberal Party to Israeli wants and whims guts the integrity of liberalism for the political advancement of a neo-Harper.
I fear Mike’s right. It’s all lebensraum now. Despite the show removal of illegal settlers, the settler population of the West Bank has actually gone up 40% during the Bush years and Netanyahu intends to consolidate it.

Iggy the Bloody was placed there by the inner circle.
I think that the Liberals and Connies should merge – they seem to be holding the same views lately.

The “Liberals” are going to regret stepping off their traditional neutral ground in this conflict, and adopting fawning dishonesty instead. I’m sure I’m not alone in finding it really really offensive.
