Scott Reid lays out the case for terminating the Harper government with extreme prejudice.
Fate tends to be grudging with gifts of this significance. To ignore it would be an error every bit as historic as the one Mr. Harper himself has made.
So don’t get fancy. Don’t get confused. And don’t get weak in the knees. If you don’t put Mr. Harper in his grave, he’ll put you in yours.
Of course, it may be academic. The opposition may not even get the chance if, as has been rumored, Harper decides to prorogue parliament for the remainder of the year.
Update: The Tories’ latest maneuver is to move up the date of the budget to Jan. 27th when parliament returns from holiday, but it’s still unclear what, if any stimulus they’re prepared to deliver.

URGENT – Calling Joe Clark – filibuster expertise required.
Your regular posters are surely more informed on these matters than me, but I think that a request to prorogue could be refused. This parliament has just met. To prorogue now would give the governement unchecked power.
Reading you as always, and with much pleasure.
Since Harper’s tenture – how much time has been spent actually doing government work? He’s prorogued at least twice, filibustered committees, etc.
Does he think it’s a part-time job being a parliamentarian?
LOL – great pic!
Prorogue? Again? The lust for power & his hatred of all the other Party’s has completely overtaken the megalomaniac.
Disgusting. Can it be stopped or not allowed?
Let’s not forget the rather large financial meltdown that hasn’t, um, gone away yet.
So Harper wants to prorogue parliament WITHOUT delivering an economic stimulus package to the House? He wants to wait until January to announce and pass an economic stimulus/budget?
Does he have any idea how long it will take for the package to pass, for the money to make its way to financial institutions, to the provinces, and to the municipalities? Does His Royal Smartness think that once he gets a stimulus budget passed, everything comes up roses the next day?
Christ almighty, it will take weeks, if not months, for the public and private sector to adjust to the news, and to implement whatever measures they need to. We’re talking, best case scenario, April or May before whatever hoped-for effects the Harper stimulus package promises will actually be implemented.
Is he freakin’ insane? He’s really going to push back the implementation of measures to shore up our teetering economy for personal and partisan reasons? He’s fucking with our economy so he can eventually fuck with the Liberals?
Seriously, this is march on Ottawa stuff.
While I’m doubtful that anything will come of the idea of a coalition government, prorouging Parliament now would be a disaster for the country. We need an economic plan YESTERDAY. If the Cons can’t come up with one that doesn’t involve partisan fuckery and ideological masterbation at the expense of the fixing real problems before they get any further out of hand, then they better get the hell out of the way and let someone else take charge.
Well.. if you believe the newspapers, paperboy…
“Opposition parties continued to talk yesterday to hammer out details around a possible coalition government….New Democrat MP Libby Davies (Vancouver East) said “progress is being made” as discussions centre on common points of policy. On the Liberal side, an official said that representatives of the parties were in discussions and that talks were “going well.”
“Does he have any idea how long it will take for the package to pass…”
He does not care. He will blame it on the liberals.
unfortunate analogy. not your own, i know. still, earlier this year, the cpc site posted that graphic, showing holes in dion’s green shift. i recall outrage.

Kill or be Killed?
It appears the Liberals are just the front men for the Separatists and Socialists.
It’s obvious what the separatists want, but the socialists?
…Oh yes, the destruction of the Liberal Party of Canada.
It turns out the Liberal Party is the marionette in the Opera.
Who is leading this coalition?
chuckle, chuckle, chuckle.
It really did sound like Scott was calling for the death of the PM. LOL.
Kill it, kill it NOW!!! Good old Scott. Never short on hyperbole, that one.
i’m just sayin’…

Tomm,
Are you always such a fucktard? Just curious.
Whatever happens….Harper blew it. He had been judged untrustworthy.. but politically smart. But no longer the smart guy.
I notice he’s let Baird out from his cage…Now that’s desperation.
Rt,
Did it not bother you with Scott using the words “Kill him: kill him dead” ?
I fully understand what Scott was trying to write but by using those word against (not Harper) but the Prime Minister of Canada was shocking to say the least.
We all know Scott is a complete big mouth political moron that does not know when to shut up when having a few beers, but that comment adding “put him in the grave” goes way beyond any political party bullshit.
No, it was entirely clear what Scott meant by that and to construe it otherwise would be a desperate stretch of the imagination.
The words “kill him: kill him dead” does not leave much to the imagination. The wording is very clear just as your picture is.
Oh, puh-leeze. Stop being so silly.
Should we take Tom Flanagan’s calls to “destroy” the Liberal Party like the Romans did Carthage in the Punic Wars as a call for mass slaughter and genocide then?
The words “kill him: kill him dead” does not leave much to the imagination.
And the way to kill Harper in the non-metaphoric sense is to deprive him of prime ministerial power.
Well if it is so silly RT, then why has the mop and pail edited the line down the memory hole.
Yer a mangy lot for sure.
