How completely unsurprising.
Now, what about the PM’s “special adviser on South Asia and the Middle East” who also crossed the floor (despite Harper having decried that dishonorable practice in the past) so that he could produce a very expensive colouring briefing book for the Dear Leader, the findings of which he had originally promised in earnest to share with the public, but then were mysteriously buried in a bulging “top secret” vault in the PMO as part of the government’s whole super-duper “transparency” agenda.

I think his ego is too large for him to quit. I doubt he’ll win the riding. The community was pretty upset.
I wish Flaherty and Clement would quit, but there is that ego thing again.
Comuzzi is what – 75 years old? I think he crossed the floor for the sole purpose of getting that funding for his community. I think he knew (God at his age still in it) he wasn’t going to run again.
I’m not sure if it’s true or not, but I’ve heard that part of the reason he crossed the floor was that Dion told him to “pick a side” as he wasn’t happy with Graham’s decision to let him be co-opted by Harper to work as a “special advisor”…
As for his ego, you’d be in a better position to speak to that than me, being in the neighborhood and all. He’s always struck me as being a bit thick and his glowing reports on “progress” in Afghanistan haven’t done much to disabuse me of that impression.
Sandi — That was precisely the reason he crossed. A cancer research facility, wasn’t it? I don’t imagine he had any intention of running for re-election. In view of the how super the lumber industry is in that riding since Emerson’s wonderful $1 billion give-away, I wouldn’t be holding my breath for the Conservatives to hold onto Thunder Bay.
Thick is a good descriptor. His ego is only slightly larger than a certain ‘rug’ he owns.
Are you confusing Joe Comuzzi with Wajid Khan?
Or did I have one to many beverages with my Friday lunch? (coding is better over .08)
No. I think it was pretty clear when I said “Now, what about…” As in, Comuzzi dropping out wasn’t a surprise, now let’s turn to another backstabbing weasel, namely Wajid Khan…
KNB — I make it a hard and fast rule never to vote for anyone that wears a toupee (doubly so when it’s a really bad/obvious one). What else screams out “FAKER!” more loudly than that?
Lore — I made a paragraph break to cut down on the confusion.
The Wrath of Khan left Harper’s Borg collective to sit as an independent. There’s always room in the Green Party.
I here scientists are now looking for ex-Conservatives instead of rats for their laboratory experiments.
It seems that there are some things that rats just won’t do.
I love watching Khan stand up in QP….he grins like he’s oh so important.
Hope he campaigns on really windy day and the rug flies off….would be too funny.
Skinny — Really? When did that happen? I must have been sleeping when Khan became an Independent.
I think it is a little unfair to call Mr. Cormuzzi a weasel.
He switched sides because he believed it was the best way to get that Cancer Centre in Thunderbay and he did have a problem with the Liberals’ position on SSM.
Certainly a case can be made for the likes of Belinda Stronach, David Emerson and Wajid Khan being weasels as they switched for less than honourable reasons.
However, I believe Mr. Cormuzzi was being true to himself and doing what he believed was in the best interests of his constituents.
Switching parties is always controversial but I do not think it is always wrong. I think that applies to Mr. Cormuzzi.
Things that make you go hmmmmm….while we’re on the subject of weasels and all .
hmmmmmm
Hmmm indeed. I have to run some errands but will check these out later tonight. I’ve heard that fat-f*ck’s name being bandied about of late, but haven’t really been following it.
Heh , just caught your latest post . Our esteemed MSM ought to be taken to task for many things , what they choose not to report being close to the top .
Okay, so I just read those articles and I’m not sure what your point is. Care to illuminate?
Dude, Joe Comuzzi is like 90. Isn’t Emerson enough to play with for you people? Do you really think the whole “everyone’s jumping from the sinking ship” meme is going to fly for Harper? Really
I’m not really playing that card Aaron. Just having a chuckle at the floor-crossers bailing out, that’s all.
Oh, Aaron…go take another “children of the corn” photo with Big Daddy.
Where is that image again, anyway? I want to mock it.
WoooHooo on Khan leaving the Cons! AND he’ll get trounced in the election. He was probably ousted anyway by Harper. I’m sure it wasn’t “his own” decision. Too much of an ego to want to leave.
Khan is still one of the HarperCons. He was out of their caucus only from mid-November 2007 to the beginning of February 2008, while he was dealing with Elections Act campaign overspending violations from the last election. Imagine if all Harper’s Elections Act violators had left caucus, they would have almost as few members as the Layton Wing of the Con Party.
