Dion: Post “Charade” Presser

Stéphane Dion speaking to reporters after his meeting the other day with Stephen “straight up guy” Harper.

Oh, I guess this was just after he fell into the “trap” set for him by Harper, according to Mike Duffy.

Update: I just noticed this was posted on YouTube by Jeff. Thanks Jeff! (Watch that channel or better yet, subscribe.)

  1. Ya, that was quite the trap, a full press corp, carried live on three networks, Dion blasting Harper and looking quite prime ministerial. Those dumb Liberal strategists, giving Dion another platform to make his case.

BTW, did anyone else notice how GLARING Duffy’s bias looks after a few weeks not hearing him?

  2. I didn’t actually see him, just noted the reference made in the CTV article. Impolitical pointed out the bias by highlighting the questions he was asking. Sounds like he’s out of the loop. Maybe his famous Blackberry wasn’t working at the lake or wherever he was. Or does he go to the Caribbean? I forget. I’m not sure if he’s “biased” so much as he’s trivial and more interested in clowning around than being serious.

  3. Apparently, reception is quite bad at the Mulroney’s summer retreat.

  4. I still can’t get over the fact that guys like Duffy and Newman just check out for the whole summer. It’s amazing to me. Can you imagine if CNN just shut down “The Situation Room” and went on hiatus for all of August because Congress isn’t sitting… Inconceivable.

  5. Ya, quite the job eh? Xmas break, spring break for parliament, summer off and only work for an hour each day.

Almost better than Palin’s job a mayor.

  6. I suspect their job involves more than the time we see them on air, but yeah, it’s pretty cushy in a lot of respects.

  7. Whooee! I hear-tell Jack Layton’s applying for jobs. Maybe he oughta think about applying for Duffy’s job. He’d have a better chance of landing it than that other job he’s applying for.

I’d apply for Duffy’s job but I’m Blackberry challenged. I got the partisanship part nailed, though.

    Go Green, Vote Green.

  8. there’s more to these meetings than meets the ey. i’m surprised that no commentaries have noted the constitutional niceties/necessities of these meetings.

the PM can now say to the gg(if she asks) that he tried and failed to get some agreement from the opposition

  9. Duffy spent nearly 25 minutes discussing that stupid Stragegic poll….had Bob Rae on and after Rae was off, did his usual gossipy/backstabbing stuff and said Rae sure knows how the spin on the poll…….then I laughed when Donolo (Strategic Counsel) agreed with Rae….it’s only the first poll to start off the campaign season. No one knows how it will go after that.

I think if was Brian Lahi (Globe) who said in an interview that he checked back…and only “once” in history did an opposition leader poll higher than a PM and that historically all PM’s have polled quite a bit higher than the opposition – that was in 1984.

  10. I stopped watching Duffy and company many months ago, and I’m reasonably confidence I will live longer as a result. Hopefully with the Web we can get more uncut footage like this out to people, who can watch it unfiltered and reach their own conclusions without media massaging and Duffy’s talking-points.

    Rural,

I suppose you think Newman is un-biased?

Please keep in mind that the CPC has been on the media “sneer” team for several years. Media bias has been a way of life for CPC followers. Especially from our dear friends at the Mother Corp.

Read Heather Mallick @ CBC this week. Give you a bit of a taste of what us proles have been putting up with.

  12. The CBC is oriented against all politicians – and THAT is a bias we are well to support.

They HARDLY gave Chretien a free-ride.

    Preston Manning did that.
