Three of my uncles worked for Bata Shoes in Batawa till the company stopped production at the factory there in the 90′s. Kinda sucked for them losing their life-long jobs in their late 40′s, but you can’t compete with the high quality of African produced footwear. Thomas was the Honorary Colonel of my old Militia Regiment and is (was) by all accounts a true gentleman. He is a big supporter of Trent University as well. RIP.
